Where precision shapes capability
Training Environments Shaped by Experience, Terrain, Weather, and Distance
Availability and offerings may be restricted to verified personnel and agencies.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
Bearmouth Precision provides a purpose-built training environment designed for Special Operations, federal agencies, and elite law-enforcement organizations operating in complex terrain and variable conditions. Our programs integrate operational experience with mountain-domain expertise, leveraging weather, elevation, distance, and terrain to develop real-world capability beyond controlled ranges.
THE MONTANA DESTINATION
Bearmouth Precision operates on a private 25,000-acre Montana ranch with dedicated training environments—from a flat range to known-distance (KD) and high-angle ranges. Lodging options onsite at Tomahawk Lodge support focused multi-day programs with straightforward logistics.
25,000 acres of private ground and controlled access
Flat range + KD range (out to 1 mile) + high-angle range environments
Lodging options onsite at Tomahawk Lodge
Terrain suited to land navigation, backcountry mobility, and larger exercises
These are common engagement builds we can tailor to your objectives and constraints. Scope, permissions, and requirements are confirmed during planning with verified personnel.
CORE TRAINING CAPABILITIES
Live Fire & Precision Marksmanship
Training emphasizes deliberate engagements under environmental conditions that cannot be replicated on static ranges.
Flat Range Operations: Pistol and carbine training supporting foundational marksmanship, weapons handling, and unit drills.
Known Distance (KD) Range: Long-range engagements beyond 2,000 meters with steel targets and variable firing points.
High-Angle Precision: Mountain-based firing positions incorporating elevation change, wind variability, and complex ballistics.
Environmental & Cold Weather Operations
Training emphasizes cold weather and environmental operations, developing mobility, survivability, and decision-making in snow, cold, and complex mountain conditions.
Cold Weather Training: Winter survival, mobility, camping, and sustained operations in snow and cold conditions.
Rock Climbing & Swift-Water Crossing: Seasonal access to mountain faces and variable water crossings introduces risk management and problem-solving under environmental constraints.
Tactical Maneuver & Field Operations
Training focuses on tactical maneuver and field operations using terrain-driven reconnaissance lanes, ground maneuver areas, and mounted interdiction routes, with day and night access across varied terrain.
Reconnaissance & Overwatch Lanes: Day and night observation lanes utilizing natural terrain, elevation, and role players.
Ground Maneuver Areas: Structures, outbuildings, and corridors supporting dismounted tactics and movement under load.
Vehicle Interdiction Sites: Rural roads, two-track routes, and open terrain enabling mounted and mixed mobility operations.
Night Operations: Terrain-wide access supports full-spectrum training across valleys, ridgelines, and open ground.
Aviation & Vertical Integration
Helicopter Operations: High-mountain insertions with multiple landing zones distributed across the property.
Military Free-Fall (MFF) Access: Mountain and plains drop zones with potential aircraft support.
Airfield Access: Public grass airstrip approximately 5 miles from the lodge; paved runway located 35 miles east in Deer Lodge.
Training supports aviation and vertical integration through helicopter insertions, free-fall access, and airfield proximity in complex terrain.
Navigation and mobility training is informed by real-world backcountry travel, not theoretical routes.
Mobility & Navigation in Complex Terrain
Land Navigation: Dismounted, mounted, and animal-based navigation across varied terrain, from rolling ground to mountainous routes.
Off-Road Mobility: Trucks, UTVs, and motorcycles supporting rough-road and cross-terrain movement.
Winter Mobility: Snowmobiles, snow bikes, tracked UTVs, and ski-based movement in snow conditions.
Communications, Medical, & Specialty Training
Training supports communications, medical, and specialty operations through terrain-driven command-and-control challenges, rescue scenarios, and K9 training in complex environments.
Communications: Mountain-to-valley communications supporting realistic command-and-control challenges.
Medical & Rescue Training: Mountain extraction scenarios, animal casualty response, and potential helicopter integration with 2 Bears Rescue.
K9 Training: Open terrain suitable for patrol and detection training in rural and mountainous environments.
* Optional integrations:
Additional elements can be integrated based on objectives, permissions, and constraints.
UAS-enabled integration (when permitted and aligned to objectives)
Search & rescue support (including K9 where applicable)
Custom blocks / sustainment / evaluation support
